Fairies remind us of the beauty & wisdom of natural world, and of the peace & solitude we find in nature’s presence. They also invite us to live our lives according to our own inner compasses, and to bring playfulness, curiosity & conviction into all we do! See the poem I wrote in below. I made the original piece, “Fern Fairy,” with hand pressed ferns, many from the cloud forests of Costa Rica! Then I gave her wings from the Japanese Maple tree in our backyard. May you discover your own inner fairy when you look at her!

FERN FAIRY

I am a fairy.

I come alive in forests & gardens,

Where all things quiet & green

Live, breathe & find their being.

 

I get lost in the wild.

Where to live is to grow freely

And where to be

is to become who you truly are.

 

I am delicate & elusive,

Like tender ferns that rise in the shade of trees.

And I am resilient & enduring,

Like tomorrow’s fronds that know only to unfold again.

 

My curiosity lends me invisible wings,

And my courage grants me spontaneous flight.

My playful spirit is my passion & pursuit,

And my magic is my means.

 

Are you a fairy?

Look at me and you will know.

Trust what you feel,

For that is what makes you glow.
